CompliantLong distance drivers (trucks and buses) who currently use paper logs to track their driving time now have two years, a deadline of December 2017, to implement and begin using electronic logging devices (ELDs).

Motor Carriers who are currently using Automatic On-Board Recording Devices (AOBRDs) that are compliant with the FMCSA regulations prior to the ELD Mandate, have an additional two years to begin using electronic logging devices, a deadline of December 2019.

The operational benefits of using ELDs are far-reaching, from reducing paperwork and administrative work, optimizing back office reporting and increasing the productivity of drivers. But the real push behind the mandate, of course, is increased safety. The FMCSA estimates the mandated use of ELDs will save 26 lives and prevent 562 injuries every year.

Some 3 Million drivers will have thrown out their paper log books by December 2017. Is your organization an employer to some of these drivers?  Are you now in search of an ELD solution? Do you know where to start? What to look for?

We’ve prepared a few resources for you to help you in your search.
